Understanding Global Competence

It's no secret that we are living in a time of rapid economic, technological, and social change, leading to a more interconnected world. One in ten Americans is foreign-born, and our local communities—urban, suburban, and rural—are becoming increasingly diverse. To leverage global and local market opportunities, companies seek workers with global competence—the ability to understand and act on issues of global significance. In this lesson, we will explore how to prepare all students for their work and civic roles in an environment where success increasingly relies on the ability to compete, connect, and cooperate on an international scale.
